Ed Sheeran is stepping in as the headliner for the 2015 Fusion Festival after Justin Bieber suddenly had to cancel his appearance.

Bieber’s 2013 gigs at London’s O2 upset fans after he started one concert late, leaving some of them stranded and others having to go home shortly after it began.

The 24-year-old “Thinking Out Loud” singer announced the news on Twitter.

“‘I’ve been in this business a long time and it almost brought me to tears”, organiser Mike Owen said, according to BBC News. There was a lot of concerns, a lot of phone calls but Ed Sheeran himself kind of came forward out of a little group of conversations with people and said, ‘I’ll do it.’ It was absolutely breathtaking for us. “What a wonderful man”.

He later added: “I’m delighted to be playing Fusion Festival after stepping in at the last minute to help out the guys at Fusion and support The Princes Trust”.

In subsequent tweets, the “Boyfriend” hitmaker – who will release his new single “What Do You Mean” on August 28, the same day he was scheduled to perform in England – insisted it wasn’t a decision he had taken “lightly” and promised he would return soon. Bieber had said earlier this week that he look forward to “the opportunity to give my UK beliebers a great show in the near future” and hopes to honor his commitment to the charity.
