Three men were hospitalized Tuesday night following a triple shooting in Norfolk County, Virginia that reportedly unfolded on Facebook Live video. The three men, all in their late 20s, were taken to hospital and according to police, two of the three have life-threatening injuries while the third man’s injuries are serious.
Reports of the video first surfaced on Twitter, when a user wrote: “3 boys just got shot on Facebook live in Berkeley smh”, in reference to a particular neighborhood in Norfolk.
Five minutes into his live stream, a series of gunshots are heard and his cell phone falls to the ground but continues recording for more than an hour. “When the responders arrive, a witness can be heard saying the three men have been shot”.
“Upon arrival, officers located three men inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds”, the police department said in an update. Later, a separate voice can be heard apparently consoling the men.
The video uploaded in real-time by T.J. Williams on Tuesday evening shows him and two other men in a vehicle smoking what appears to be marijuana, while listening and rapping along to hip hop music.
“Don’t go to sleep, stay relaxed”, someone says. “Give me your hand”.
Paramedics arrived at the scene after about 10 minutes. “It’s gonna be all right, they coming to get you”. Keep listening to my voice.
