Jon Jones’ B sample confirms positive test result

When the UFC 200 main event of Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones fell out this week, it marked the third time in four attempts that a planned fight between the only two men to hold the UFC light heavyweight title over the past five years didn’t make it to the cage.

UFC announced Wednesday night it had pulled Jones from Saturday’s UFC 200 because of the failed tests.

“I can confirm that Mr. Jones’ B sample results have been reported by the laboratory, and that the results confirm the findings of the A sample”, said Ryan Madden, USADA Media Relations Specialist.

Jones confirmed the positive test in a Thursday press conference, but neither he nor the USADA has revealed for which banned substance he tested positive.

Jones faces a suspension of up to two years for the failed drug test but says he will be back regardless of how long it takes.

UFC 200 goes down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

White also doesn’t think too highly of the people surrounding Jones, who apparently aren’t keeping a watchful eye on every supplement he’s taking and ensuring that he’s being taken care of ahead of every fight.

He was suspended by the UFC for several months in 2015 for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident, the latest in a series of behavioral missteps. After Cormier had to drop out of their scheduled April rematch with an injury, Jones returned to competition with a victory over Ovince Saint Preux.

The Brazilian has fought at 205lbs three times, in the period between 2008 and 2012, winning all three bouts by first-round knockouts.

Jon Jones just can’t seem to catch a break.
