Ten of the 13 killed were emergency force members; the rest were others who worked at the site, SPA reported.
Previous attacks in the kingdom by Islamic State militants have been claimed by a group calling itself Najd Province, a reference to Saudi Arabia’s central region, where Riyadh is located.
There was also no immediate claim of responsibility, but groups affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have been blamed for recent attacks in Saudi.
The governor of Asir province, Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdel Aziz, visited the site of the attack and the wounded in hospital, condemning the bombing.
An elderly man injured in a recent suicide attack in Saudi Arabia.
“The incident is being followed up by the relevant security agencies”, the ministry said in the statement.
Seven Kuwaitis, five Saudis, three Pakistanis, 13 stateless Arabs known as bidoon and another unnamed person at large were charged with involvement in the attack.
“Those guys, they are at war with us”, he said. That attack killed four security personnel and a civilian.
The group identified the bomber as Abu Sinan al-Najdi, saying in the statement that a “soldier of the Caliphate” carried out the suicide attack by detonating his explosive belt.
