Rooney looking forward to Mourinho era
Mourinho threw down the gauntlet to Rooney last week, warning the player that he has no intention of using him in midfield, even though he admitted he “might not be a striker any more”.

United had lined up a move for Sanches before Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal as boss.
Mourinho’s opening news conference as the new Manchester United manager contained a message for Rooney.
“I’ve had so many years in football at a high level, so obviously I am not nervous, I feel very calm and I know that I am ready for the job, but to go into the stadium as Man United manager”.
The report suggests both players have been told they can leave the club in this transfer window as Jose Mourinho doesn’t think they’re good enough to be a part of the first team.
His successor “believes that is far too many to encourage organisation and team spirit”, and will therefore make widespread changes to the current squad.
Newcastle United want £35million for the 26-year-old and, according to Le 10 Sport, Jose Mourinho may be willing to move for Sissoko if he misses out on his worldwide team-mate Paul Pogba.
Mourinho told adidas Front Row: “History, nobody can delete, I always say that”.
The Englishman added that one of the biggest assets the Portuguese would bring with him was experience and a history of success, which he hoped would manifest themselves during his tenure at Old Trafford.
“There is no chance we will be happy if we are not together and I think the passion [they have] for this club is really unbelievable”.
And Rooney, 30, admitted he is relishing the prospect of playing under Mourinho, whom he described as one of the best bosses on the planet.
“When I arrived, I wore the (United) shirt immediately and this is the kind of club and the kind of shirt that I am very proud to represent”.
Mourinho then went on to explain what makes Old Trafford so different from other venues and thus so special.
The club’s captain Wayne Rooney will not be available for that game as he is on a break following Euro 2016.
