‘Outlander’ season 2 finale: Graham McTavish on that Jamie – Dougal fight

The third season of the hit show will focus on Diana Gabaldon’s “Voyager”, in which we will see some very complicated scenes and a rather complex storyline. An emotional Claire said, “He survived”.

The actor explained, “As Jamie lets Claire go, he knows he’s going to die, but at least she is going to be safe, and his unborn child, who will be Bree”.

That feeling of dread is only underlined with the time stamps that accompany each cut back to the 1700s from the 1960s (more on this later), the minutes slipping away serving as a makeshift countdown to the heartache that’s been brewing since the first moments of the season and Claire’s return to Frank. “I think that’s the joy of the show, it’s never the same thing, it’s constantly moving, so next season should be quite an adventure”.

TG: It was Matt’s idea to have Jamie dance her back towards the stones.

According to Davis, Geillis will be much more humane on Season 3. We’re so excited about it. We’re also excited about the back half and the ship voyage and the journey to Jamaica. There wasn’t much sex in Season 2, but it was replaced with something far more intimate between them. The much bigger question is how the show will write around not having Jamie and Claire together.

The Battle of Culloden is nigh, and though Claire and Jamie have tried a number of desperate moves over the course of the second season of Outlander to prevent the fateful fight, nothing has worked. Season 2 was my favorite season and Dragonfly was my favorite book. But Jamie has an ace up his sleeve: He knows Claire is pregnant. The Parisian story closed with the unbearable loss of a child in “Faith”, though also included the gaining of a child in Fergus (Romann Berrux).

I love Frank too and obviously Ron does and we’re such fans of Tobias, but I know the fans are sometimes more Team Jamie. “The time is getting so close to zero hour, to the point that they have to stop history from happening and whether or not they do is the spoiler”. An older Claire, looking elegantly poised with a streak of gray in her dark hair, gives Roger her condolences and introduces her daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), a sprite American girl with hair as red as Jamie’s. Since Geillis conveniently hinted at her plans to Brianna and Roger, Claire took them to Craigh na Dun to try to warn Geillis about keeping a low profile in Scotland. Since the Season 2 finale resolved clearly that Jamie is in fact alive, it would make sense to see what happened to him after he said goodbye to Claire. It felt personal and knowable. The finale is going to tug at fans’ heartstrings just as it declares that there’s going to be a new energy and swagger next season.

“Dragonfly in Amber” takes us to 1968, where Claire brings her grown daughter, Brianna, to Scotland for the first time since leaving for America with Frank decades earlier. I’m actually in Scotland right now prepping Season 3, so I’ve been scouting non-stop for the last two weeks.

The Great British Baking Show (PBS, 9 p.m., Friday): This cooking competition show really is everything it says on the tin, as the quintessentially British recipe of sweetness and tartness continues, in this sixth season, to result in a uniquely satisfying experience. It’s the ones that will stay with us for hopefully many years – Marsali, older Fergus – who are trickier.
