He agreed to bowl no-balls at specific points during the match in exchange for money as gamblers bet large sums on proceedings with inside information.

“Any sportsman or woman caught match-fixing, spot-fixing or taking drugs should be banned for life”, Pietersen told the Daily Telegraph.

“People should get a second chance as mistakes could be done by anybody”. He can swing the new ball late and has a very good bouncer.

The trio were also banned from competing in cricket by the ICC, with Amir getting a five-year ban, Asif a seven-year ban and Butt a ten-year ban.

Pakistan briefly rose to No. 2 in the ICC Test rankings – they are now third, a place above England – after beating England 2-0 in the UAE previous year and Wahab pointed to Misbah-ul-Haq, who stepped up to replace Salman Butt as captain after the 2010 spot-fixing crisis and oversee the rebuilding of the team, as the main reason for their recent success.

“Then they calmed down and now they are trying to get along with him”. “They are not going to be that experienced, so it will be a struggle for England”. Batsmen are at the other end in the nets, so you feel like you have to get to know the bowlers to help the captain out.

“I have helped a lot with the Pakistan Cricket Board, visiting schools and regional teams to educate them to do right”, he said.

Paceman Wahab Riaz this week insisted Pakistan have “worked out what he lacks”, claiming the tourists have the Root’s measure ahead of the four-Test series.

“I think our biggest challenge is going to be this wicket, because you look at all the Middlesex scores and they are all bore draws”, he said.
