Cameron admits love for Larry the cat

Mr Cameron’s official spokeswoman said the delivery had been for civil servants who were working on arrangements for the change of prime ministers. Larry was the first cat to hold the appointment since stalwart ratter Humphrey was retired in 1997.

“And as we leave for the last time, my only wish is continued success for this great country that I love so very much”. “It’s been a pleasure Prime Minister!”

David Cameron has said he loves Larry, the Downing Street cat.

Chief mouser Larry – a brown and white tabby entrusted with the rat-catching portfolio – will continue to reside in his famous abode when Theresa May moves in after becoming prime minister on Wednesday.

Larry’s been at home at 10 Downing Street since 2011 when he was recruited from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for his ability to catch mice.

Amazingly, there has been some sort of cat acting as the chief mouser-slash-pet since the days of King Henry VIII in the 16th century, when a cat was appointed to guard the Treasury.

And on his very own Twitter account, Larry shared the love and responded affectionately, if a little cheekily, to Cameron’s snapshot.
