Rory McIlroy bashed by Golf Channel analyst for Olympics stance
“According to the Brazilian Tourism Board, approximately 350,000-500,000 worldwide visitors and athletes from 207 countries are expected to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games”, the CDC said in a statement. In this preview we’re going to train our eye on a trio of Olympic sports that don’t necessarily grab headlines and see if we can’t determine who might be favourites to leave Rio wearing Olympic gold medals.

Justin Rose has led the counter arguments to Rory McIlroy’s suggestion that Olympic golf does not matter to elite players. Twenty male players, including the top four in the world rankings, have pulled out.
“I’m excited. It’ll be pretty special to be an Olympic athlete and get to walk in the opening ceremony and be part of the whole thing”, Fowler told Press Association Sport. I truly believe that if it was so risky that we couldn’t compete and it wasn’t right that I’m sure they would pull us off in the first place.
“But for me, it just came down to my family’s more important”.
“Golf’s in the Olympics in Tokyo in four years time and if I really feel the need to get that Olympic experience hopefully I can go there and do that”.
“I totally respect and understand their perspective and their decision, and it obviously comes down to personal reasons, and you have to respect that”.
Golf and rugby were approved by the International Olympic Committee in 2013 for inclusion in the Rio Games and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“I’m excited to be here, I love playing links golf and it’s time to start to playing a little better”. It’s a lack of appreciation for how the Olympics can just transcend an individual sport. With any major event we go to any outings is sanctioned by the Chef de Mission and usually we don’t entertain unnecessary outings.so our team has got strict rules and procedures in place to enforce the safety of our athletes and we’re keeping well abreast with our embassy in Brazil, who will be keeping us well informed of situations on the ground. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think I could win”.

These comments, together with the large number of golfers skipping the Rio Olympics, opens up those golfers to criticism and speculation.
