Police arrested an Indianapolis man they say fired more than a dozen bullets into a police officer’s marked patrol vehicle and home while screaming anti-police obscenities Friday morning.

Neighbors said that a few days prior, they saw a man in a Black Lives Matter t-shirt who was hurling obscenities at police walking in the neighborhood.

Indianapolis’ police chief says a suspect is in custody after someone opened fire on an officer’s patrol auto overnight outside the officer’s home. He said any incident in which an officer is attacked at his home with his family inside is “something that everyone in this society should be concerned about”. If there is one place in the world you should always feel safe and your family should feel safe, it’s at your home.

Ratney had been released from prison last month after serving a sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to WIBC-TV.

“It certainly seems that he was upset with police”, Riggs said.

“We should continue to remind each other we need to remain alert and vigilant”, Riggs said.

“[He was] wearing a shirt that said “F the police” on the front and “Black Lives Matter” on the back”.

Police pulled Ratney over and arrested him in less than an hour after the shooting.

The targeted officer told WXIN that he was already familiar with Ratney, having arrested him on a gun charge several years ago.

During his interview with police, the “gentleman” became belligerent and urinated in the interrogation room, Fox59 reported. “And our city was attacked and his family was attacked as a result”. We can not let the actions of one individual represent an entire group of citizens that utilize their first amendment rights peacefully over the weekend to protest here in Indianapolis. He says he’s troubled by the shooting, which comes in the wake of last week’s fatal shootings of five Dallas police officers.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said surveillance video captured a vehicle speeding away from the scene at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, according to reports.

“Tips from the community, along with officers and detectives canvassing the area for information, allowed for quick apprehension of 27-year-old suspect, March Ratney”, the police department confirmed.
