Taylor Swift tops celebrity rich list
The 26-year-old singer made $235 million over the past year, helping her shoot to the top of the 2016 Forbes Celebrity 100 list.

Swift’s rise this year is a direct result of the success of her 1989 World Tour, which surpassed the Rolling Stones’ North American touring record – grossing $200m. Aside from the album and the tour, being an endorser for various big brands such as Keds, Diet Coke and Apple also helped in bumping up her earnings for the past year.
It was thanks to her world tour that Perry was able to beat out Taylor Swift and reach the top of the list a year ago. Had they stayed together, they would have been the top-earning Celebrity 100 couple, more than doubling Beyonce and Jay Z’s $107.5 million total. The “1989” singer would have topped another one of Forbes’ lists too, except she broke up with Calvin Harris. Katy Perry, who’s last album Prism was released in 2013, only pulled in a measly $41 million (though, we’d still take it!).
Taylor Swift is one of the most recognizable celebrities on the planet, with some of the catchiest songs to date.
The Shake It Off singer also outpaced rival Katy Perry who previous year took in more than US$135 million as opposed to Swift’s US$80 million, according to Forbes magazine’s annual list of 100 highest-paid celebrities. At a tender age, she made this by pulling in a whopping $170 million over the past year.
He added that live entertainment continues to be a major cash draw.

Forbes’ cover story features Kim Kardashian, who came in 42nd place with $51 million, 40 percent of which came from her mobile game “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood”. Media moguls such as, Kim Kardashian West, Ellen Degeneres and dozens of other boldfaced names have quickly created a $200 million cottage industry around mobile games. Tay also beat Adele who ranked ninth with $80.5 million; both of them are the only women on the top 10.
