Kremlin declines comment on reported US offer on Syria

Kerry was due to arrive later Thursday in Moscow, a close ally of Assad’s government that launched air strikes in support of regime forces last September.

The document, published by The Washington Post, calls for joint bombing operations, a command-and-control centre and other synchronised efforts.

In an interview with NBC News, President Assad said winning the war depended on “many factors” including “how long are the supporters of the terrorists are going to keep supporting them?”

Later this week Kerry will travel to Moscow where he will meet with senior Russian officials to discuss a range of issues, including the cessation of hostilities in Syria and efforts for Syria’s political transition.
