The Wisconsin Republican says he doesn’t know what Trump will do, and “I hope he makes a good pick and clearly that would be a good one”. On Monday, Christie campaigned with the candidate in Virginia Beach and spent time with the campaign team all day, and sat with Trump as they flew between cities.
“In many ways, Donald Trump is like a pirate”, Gingrich said. Pence, as a former congressional leader, also has ties to the Koch brothers and other influential donors who have so far stayed away from Trump.
It’s believed Trump has narrowed the list of potential running mates to four names: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Alabama Sen. The meeting was confirmed by a source with direct knowledge of the meeting, but was not authorized to discuss it publicly.
The meeting was initially heralded as a sign that Mr Pence was a shoe-in for the role, until it emerged that Newt Gingrich had followed Mr Trump to the Hoosier State. “I was hauling dishes from the cupboard at midnight”. They were joined by Pence’s wife, Karen, and Trump’s son, Eric. The Indiana governor has credibility with social conservatives who are among the most suspicious of Republican Party constituencies towards Trump in the GOP.
Gingrich is a boisterous rabble-rouser who has spent decades in Washington and helped define the political battles of the 1990s. Christie, a one-time rival, has become one of Trump’s most trusted advisers.
“The Trump Campaign was not in existence prior to or at the time of the agreement, and Mr. Nunberg did not agree or intend that it apply to any future entity such as the Trump Campaign”, Nunberg’s complaint said. He would also bring Midwestern appeal.
The former House speaker and Georgia congressman has been an enthusiastic backer of Trump’s presidential bid. “You find out sooner or later who the last one standing is”. In Trump’s case, the feverish endgame of his search suggests a penchant for intrigue an unpredictable streak and above all a desire to make a splash as the comings and goings Wednesday triggered a media circus.
He says, “I’m narrowing it down”.
“Who Trump chooses doesn’t matter even a little bit”, Anderson said.
Pence joined Trump at a fundraiser and a rally on Tuesday where he received a warm reception from the crowd.
Trump told The Wall Street Journal he’s looking for an attack dog – someone who is a “fighter skilled in hand-to-hand combat” to take on Hillary Clinton.
Later in the day, Gingrich huddled with Trump, the kids and Manafort and it went well, people familiar with the meeting told Bloomberg, who said Trump thinks he has “great options” for a running mate.

Trump was directing his staff to prepare for a Friday announcement. Pence said on Twitter on Tuesday.
Pence appeared at a Tea Party rally outside of the Capitol, where he said that if Obama and Senate Democrats didn’t agree to a House proposal to “cut spending to pre-Stimulus, pre-bailout levels, defunding Obamacare and ending all public funding for Planned Parenthood of America”, “then I say, ‘Shut it down'”.

A Trump adviser however disputed conventional wisdom that Pence could steady or moderate the voluble Republican presumptive nominee on the stump.
