The first auto, a 2012 Nissan Maxima, was being driven by Arnulfo Hiciano, 33, of North Providence, Rhode Island; the second vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Ram, was being driven by Giovanni Carmona, 31, of Providence, Rhode Island.

Troopers spotted two cars weaving in-and-out of traffic on I-95 north, near exit 88, and pulled them over. The troopers were monitoring roadside mowing.

The first vehicle was a 2012 Nissan Maxima, operated by Arnulfo Hiciano. With the assistance of K9 Albert, two cardboard boxes were found in the trunk, Hiciano told police they were not his and allowed them to open the boxes. Police said the drugs had an estimated street value of approximately $2.9 million.

Troopers say the driver of the auto, Arnulfo Hiciano, told them the boxes weren’t his and that he was traveling with the other vehicle that also was stopped. A search of his vehicle was also conducted before the two were taken into custody.

After learning the two men were traveling together, both were arrested on charges of possessing cocaine, intent to sell it and failure to maintain established lanes. All seized items were taken to Troop E in Montville and held as evidence, police said.
