Thousands of Melburnians expected to attend Black Lives Matter rally
The BLM is an activist movement, originating in the African-American community, that campaigns against violence towards black people.

The petition was created on July 6 – the same day that Castile was shot and killed during a auto stop in suburban St. Paul – by a user only identified as Y.S. and quickly gained momentum following the next-day slaying of five Dallas police officers during a Black Lives Matter protest. “What have you not heard me say?” Giuliani has repeatedly called the activist group “inherently racist” because it “divides us”.
“It was a partnership between protesters and police officers”, says Pastor Fisher.
The group’s founders insist Black Lives Matter is not encouraging violence. “They want a more safe, more equal society”.
“He just kinda like, pushed him”, protester Elisa Paczos said, adding the elderly man left the scene after the altercation. All lives matter, but in order for that to be true, we need to speak out against the racism that lingers behind the badge. “Because what they’re not saying is that Black lives matter more than anybody else’s lives, it’s more of a ‘hey, these lives matter too'”. “And it pits two equally important interests against each other that weren’t against each other”. “I give no credit to that organization”. They showed incredible restraint. “We want that public, so citizens can go online and see complaints against officers”, he said.
Seaside Police Chief Vicki Myers said officers plan to attend next Monday and will attend Wednesday’s rally like any other community event.
In a statement Edwards released after the meeting, the governor said the state’s law enforcement and civilians should come together in order to emerge from “this tragedy” stronger.
It’s unclear at this point when or if the Dallas Police Department might publicly clear Hughes’ name. And several Black Lives Matteractivists were quick to condemn the slayings in Dallas. “This is where we’re stuck…. And some of the voices that are out there are saying one thing, trying to pull us apart, splitting hairs and taking various unifying messages and ripping them to shreds beneath the minutiae of just pretentious ignorance”.
Stay on topic – This helps keep the thread focused on the discussion at hand.
