Basketball: Wade makes move home to Chicago

Dwyane Wade distributed a private letter Thursday to Miami Heat employees a day after he made a decision to leave for the Chicago Bulls in National Basketball Association free agent.

“It’s still surreal. I’m still numb”, Wade said. “I was more nervous about this than I was about everything that happened last night”, Wade continued. “I appreciate everything Wade did, and I wish him the best”.

Among those who will join Wade in the Bulls are premier two-way star Jimmy Butler and crafty point guard Rajon Rondo whom the Bulls recently acquired from the Sacramento Kings after the Bulls traded former MVP Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks.

Wade wasn’t able to come to terms with the Heat on a new contract, leaving the possibility open of returning to his birthplace for the next phase of his career. In addition, all Dwyane Wade merchandise will be sold for $13.00 at all The Miami HEAT Store locations while supplies last.

In discussing the move back home, Wade reminisced about his days growing up in the area.

Rondo then went on to say how Wade and Butler work together is up to them – the Bulls hope Wade can also be a mentor figure to Butler – but added he views Butler as the team leader. The first came from Wade himself via a letter sent through the Associated Press to the fans of Miami. “My most treasured memories were watching my dad play basketball on the courts of Fermi Elementary School and developing my game at the Blue Island Recreation Center”.

Bosh still faces a most uncertain future because of the blood clots that ended his season at the All-Star break in each of the past two years.

He might have been born in Chicago, but he will always be from Miami. “I believe he has mixed feelings and thoughts right now, but I believe he should be down here in Miami”.

Wade’s departure is definitely a hard pill to swallow. Throughout the day, all HEAT digital and social media platforms will feature Dwyane Wade photo galleries, graphics and videos, including “13 Moments” – a series of vignettes that pay homage to Wade’s remarkable Miami HEAT career. “I love the show, I love what you guys stand for and what you all do, so, Deco Drive, thank you from the bottom of my heart”.
