RNC races to stamp out anti-Trump rebellion

Despite continued bad blood, Cruz’s team is eager to brand the senator as the face of the modern conservative movement ahead of a second presidential run in 2020 should Trump lose in November.

A partial list was released Thursday, but the Trump Campaign said it will continue to announce the names of speakers leading up to Monday’s convention in Cleveland at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Absent from the speakers’ list are an array of Republican luminaries who are wary of associating with Trump because of his broadsides against minorities and women, as well as his departures from the party’s Orthodoxy, particularly his favoring a drawdown of US influence overseas. But after a string of Trump victories in the northeast and in forced Ted Cruz and John Kasich out of the race, that effort died.

Trump cleared that hurdle shortly before the last round of primaries.

Also listed among the speakers is the modern Orthodox Rabbi Haskel Lookstein, who converted Ivanka Trump before her marriage to Jared Kushner. Trump called the system rigged early on, and his opponents have demanded more power for delegates to select a fresh nominee.

In fact, they’re planning an all-out mutiny against Donald Trump in an effort to deny him the nomination. The anti-Trumpers don’t need a majority of the 112 (and they won’t get it). So almost 25% of Trump’s delegates would have to defect to another candidate for there to be a contested convention.

Unruh teaches government at a small Christian high school.

Spicer also confirmed that the delegate unbinding issue was not a part of the discussions. “I don’t know what they have or have not decided”, Mickelson said, saying she was committed to moving on regardless. “It’s a preference poll”.

But, Unruh conceded that most Republicans are “rule-followers”.

According to many reports, these rogue delegates are trying to unbind a large portion of Trump’s delegates, which would allow them to choose an alternative candidate during the first ballot. As they did, party leaders and backers of Donald Trump on the convention’s rules committee showed their muscle and began rejecting conservatives’ attempts to revamp party rules.

“If we don’t stick together as a party and stop her, then the only alternative is to get comfortable with the phrase President Hillary Clinton”, he said to party leaders on Wednesday. “And I’m going to make sure I take it to the secretary, and the treasurer, and their dog, just to make sure everything’s covered”. Sources say Cuccinelli has realized Unruh won’t have the numbers even with him whipping on her behalf, and is open to brokering an agreement with Priebus under which he wins some modifications in exchange for backing down from the anti-Trump measures and allowing the rest of the Rules Committee meeting to proceed quickly and without the incessant offering of new amendments.

That’s where Unruh’s ally, Dane Waters, comes in. Neither will former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight or boxing promoter Don King, a Cleveland resident and passionate Trump supporter.

‘Now is the time to stand united as Republicans, ‘ he said. Burns said. “He gotta meet Jesus, he gotta have a coming to Jesus meeting”. “We have parliamentarians who are involved in this effort”.

Spicer said the Cuccinelli faction had approached the RNC with proposals about closed primaries, limiting RNC members’ terms, and delegate bonuses.

“About seventy per cent of those that we’re talking to do not want to have to cast a vote for Donald Trump”, Thomson said.
