‘Power Rangers’: Elizabeth Banks Takes on Becky G in a New Image

Lionsgate’s just released five character posters for the upcoming action film, Power Rangers, directed by Project Almanac’s Dean Israelite.

As part of the kick-off of their San Diego Comic-Con coverage, Entertainment Weekly revealed the scene, featuring Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini being threatened by the villainous Rita.

Each poster is tinted with their character’s signature ranger color along with the long-running franchises thunderbolt logo.

But while Rita Repulsa is seemingly going after each of the rangers individually, we don’t really know what her endgame is. “Rita’s the type to play a lot of mind games, and Trini’s [thinking], ‘Can I really overpower Rita Repulsa or can I not?'”

That, if nothing else, is something fans of the original series have never seen before. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen, but here’s hoping, eh? We have Comic-Con before that, which is even more exciting because it’ll be my first time ever … I was a fan growing up, but it’s still, like, a whole new world to be able to share this new insight with the new and old Power Rangers fans. It’s interesting that those behind the film made a decision to show this image rather than something that would have showed one of the Power Rangers in costume. Stay tuned for more Rangers news. It’s hard to say right now.
