Union Catholic Hurdler Will Be Youngest US Track Athlete at Rio Olympics
Now, it’s her schedule that needs adjusting.

On Sunday, McLaughlin set a world junior record in the 400 meter hurdles, clinching third place at the trials in 54.15 seconds to secure a berth to the Rio Olympics this summer.
“Honestly, disappointed”, Felix said in an AP report.
“I think I’ve gotten a lot more confident in the past years”, she said.
“But when I look back and see everything that happened, I still think it’s quite unbelievable I was able to make the team”. The athlete called it a “mental breakdown”, fearing that she didn’t belong.
QUALIFICATION ALERT: Tori Bowie won the women’s 200 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Trials to earn her first trip to the Olympics.
Ty Votaw, the vice president of the International Golf Federation, said the deadline to commit for the American team is 5 p.m. today at USOC headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Afterward, she was scraped-up but smiling. “She’s the truth. I was in every single heat with her and she carries herself like a pro – I know she will represent the U.S. amazingly”, Carter told reporters.
Molly Huddle became the first athlete to complete the women’s 5000m and 10,000m double at the US Olympic trials, clocking 15:05.01 in the shorter event to add to her win over the longer distance the weekend before. Runner-up Shannon Rowbury also made her third Olympic team, and third-place finisher Brenda Martinez will also go to the Rio Games.
Asked what she loved most about Felix, McLaughlin said: “She wasn’t afraid to lose”. “I’m so proud of you”.
It happened to Felix plenty over the years, none more heartbreakingly than in Athens and Beijing, where she settled for back-to-back silvers in an event she had dominated.
After proving herself to be “The Best Female Athlete in the NCAA” during the indoor and outdoor cycle (won both the pentathlon and heptathlon titles), Williams turned her attention to making yet another global team.
Johnny Dutch was not as fortunate.
The 2016 Summer Olympics begin on August 5 in Rio de Janeiro.
“I’m pretty sure everyone expected to see her on the (200) team”, Bowie said. Her score of 15.7 is gold-medal worthy if she can repeat it in Rio. But ultimately, Prandini got the chance to make her Olympic debut while the veteran’s dreams crashed.
Not anymore. The 22-year-old – the oldest member of the team – stormed her way through two run-up events to trials and kept it going on Sunday night.
The 15 Ducks earning a spot in the Olympics this year is a higher total than the past three Olympics combined.
In a subsequent interview with The Associated Press, USA Track and Field president Stephanie Hightower said Suhr was “misguided”. The incident kept her off the track for almost a month and still in pain at the Trials. She will be joined the 5,000 meters by Shelby Houlihan and Kim Conley. No wardrobe malfunction this time. She had the highest mark on the beam Sunday at 15.700.

“All year I planned for this race, and for it to end here, it’s disappointing”, rued Felix.
