From 2009-2011, Pence served as the House Republican Conference Chairman.

He spent Wednesday beguiling the media and playing on the hopes of his final few candidates to build tension, drama and – perhaps – a climactic final plot twist.

Trump is on the cusp of making the most important decision yet in his short but explosive political career.

Trump posted on Twitter Wednesday evening that he would reveal his choice at 11 a.m. Friday in Manhattan.

The Trump campaign and Nunberg did not immediately respond to request for comment. Tebow’s name was not present on the list, but he has been confirmed as a speaker.

“I’m narrowing it down”. “I mean think about it, the whole tweeting, the whole continuous noise”. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is extremely unpopular among young adults, in particular young people of colour, and almost two-thirds of Americans between the ages of 18 and 30 believe the presumptive Republican nominee is racist, according to a survey.

Trump had already announced that his children would be speaking, along with his wife Melania, whom he said was already working on remarks.

Trump appeared to have winnowed the field from about 10 people last week in what some have compared to a reality-TV show.

Pence has had his share of problems as Indiana’s governor. Christie was in touch with the billionaire by phone and discussed the vice presidency. Gingrich flew to IN on a jet financed by Fox News host Sean Hannity to press his case.

“Look, in many ways Donald Trump is like a pirate”.

The convention will also highlight religious leaders such as Jerry Falwell Jr., son of the famed televangelist, and Haskel Lookstein, the NY rabbi who converted Trump’s daughter, Ivanka to Judaism. “A lot of social conservatives are still concerned, and I’m not sure this is enough”.

Mitch Daniels, the former Republican governor now serving as president of Purdue University, said Thursday he would not be considered for the job.

Pence introduced Trump at the campaign rally in Westfield on Tuesday evening, and during his speech, Trump teased the possibility of picking Pence.

In a statement Trump’s attorney says that he will enforce the strict confidentiality agreements his employees are required to sign, and accuses Nunberg of seeking free publicity using “categorically false” claims. He’s a good guy.

A more conventional pick could be Pence, a selection that would put the minds of the party establishment at rest, given his experience in Washington and the in governors mansion, and track record on conservative issues. Pence told CBN News in a 2010 interview: “It may be that I grew up in a big Irish Catholic family like he did”. But voting Trump’s unpredictability note: “This is Trump we are talking about”.

In the meantime, at least one group is taking no chances at guessing who will be Trump’s running mate.

The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Pence “is dropping his re-election bid in Indiana to become Donald Trump’s running mate”.
