Airbus races to close AirAsia deal for 100 jets
“WOW air is becoming one of the leading low-priced long-haul airline in the World and we look forward to expanding even further through our successful partnership with Airbus”, said Skúli Mogensen, Founder and CEO of WOW air. Boeing had only received 121 orders valued at $13.7 billion as of Tuesday, excluding a pre-announced 747 deal.

Airbus’ first day was marked by Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. signing a long-awaited deal for 12 A350-1000s valued at $4.4 billion, including four to be sourced from Air Lease Corp.
USA plane-maker Boeing, which is celebrating its centennial on Friday, announced orders and commitments for 182 commercial aircraft, valued at 26.8 billion United States dollars (£20.1 billion) at list prices.
One source close to the matter speculated the jets could be sold to AirAsia for less than its previous large order for the smaller A320neo model, though Airbus sales chief John Leahy insisted earlier that A321neo prices were improving.
“We are delighted that Germania Group has renewed its confidence in Airbus to further expand its Airbus fleet”, said Fabrice Bregier, president and CEO of Airbus. Air Algerie signs a commitment for two 737-800BCFs. Scale is however the key to this clash of the leading low cost carriers in the Asia-Pacific, with the scope of the Air Asia network making it larger than the Indonesian Lion and Singaporean Tigerair and Australian Jetstar franchises.
At the same time, Airbus won $35 billion worth of business for a total of 279 aircraft, covering by single-aisle and widebody aircraft families.
Go Air chief executive Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said: “The new aircraft will help us in unlocking new domestic routes while providing a springboard for continued worldwide network expansion in the years to come”. An unidentified customer ordered four 767BCFs.
Once delivered, the new A321neo will be run on the airline’s most popular routes and especially at airports, which suffer infrastructure issues.
The F-35 – whose programme has a ballooning price tag of nearly $400 billion – was supposed to fly here in 2014 but was grounded due to an engine fire. WOW’s new A321neos will be used for its expanding service between Europe and the US.
The incredible capabilities of the Airbus A350-1000 were on display at the Farnborough Air Show with the plane making a near vertical take-off.
Chicago-based Boeing – which celebrates its centenary this year – finalised an order with German travel giant TUI Group for ten single-aisle 737 Max 8 jets plus the option for a long-haul 787-9 Dreamliner, worth a total of $1.4 billion.

Boeing also said China’s Donghai Airlines and Xiamen Airlines had signed memorandums of understanding for potential multi-billion dollar plane deals.
