‘So You Think You Can Dance’ winner charged with attacking girlfriend

A So You Think You Can Dance victor was charged Thursday with domestic violence after he allegedly attacked an ex-girlfriend and then chased her to a coffee shop, where he fought with good Samaritans who tried to intervene. Approximately two months later, on June 19, while facing prosecution for the alleged April incident, Allen reportedly attacked the same victim and chased her into a coffee shop, according to prosecutors.

Joshua Allen, 27, was charged with two felony counts of domestic violence on Thursday – charges that follow a prior conviction for him harming the unnamed woman in January, officials said.

The woman allegedly ran to a coffee shop to escape, and Allen threw a glass vase at another woman who was trying to help the victim. He also allegedly vandalized the store before finally being subdued by bystanders.

TMZ.com on Thursday said the season-four victor, 27, faces two felony counts of willful injury and assault with a deadly weapon – a glass vase – as well as misdemeanors related to battery, vandalism and violation of a protective order.

Allen – who, since winning SYTYCD in 2008, has appeared in 2011’s Footloose remake as well as episodes of Community and American Horror Story – is also charged with simple battery.

Later today, prosecutors are going to ask for $270,000 in bail in the case – which is still under investigation by the LAPD.
