Bianco votes on the Emmy nominations
David Schwimmer, who played Simpson’s lawyer and friend Robert Kardashian, John Travolta, who portrayed defence lawyer Robert Shapiro, and Sterling K Brown, who played prosecutor Christopher Darden, are also nominated for best supporting actor in a limited series.

Although HBO claimed the most nominations and the top nominee with fantasy epic “Game of Thrones“, the channel’s tally dropped from last year’s 126 nods to 94, a stunning change in what had been a steadily upward trajectory since its salad days of “Sex and the City” and “The Sopranos”. Rami Malek, of Egyptian descent, earned a top drama acting nomination for his role as a renegade hacker in freshman Mr. Robot, which got a best drama nod.
Anderson whooped when Graham read out his name in the best comedy actor category, shouting: “Hi momma – I know you’re watching!”
Plenty of other hits from this year sparked nominations for their stars such as Master of None which nabbed a nom for Aziz Ansari as well as Key & Peele, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Brooklyn Nine-Nine just being a few of the many leading to the other 20-something nominations.
Among the shows snubbed by Emmy voters in major categories this year was the Netflix prison dramedy “Orange is the New Black” and “The Good Wife“, a usual Emmy favorite that just ended its seven-year CBS run. Two-time victor Julianna Margulies, who was snubbed a year ago, is MIA, as is Christine Baranski, who was until now the only Good Wifeactor to have been nominated every season.
The choices for outstanding drama series looked familiar with “Game of Thrones”, “Better Call Saul”, “Downton Abbey“, “Homeland”, “House of Cards” and “Mr. Robot” while fans were thrilled with this year’s inclusion of “The Americans“.
The Kenya Barris-created show should get a shot at the best comedy trophy for its sophomore season, with its competitors likely to include last year’s victor, the political satire “Veep”, five-time champ “Modern Family”, transgender-themed “Transparent” and Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None”. Each of the top choices on Goldderby.com, a website where experts post odds on awards show nominations and wins, received nominations in the categories of best comedy and drama. In a feat unprecedented in Emmy history, Metcalf landed three separate nominations for three separate roles in the same year: that moving Horace and Pete spot; a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory; and a Lead Actress in a Comedy nod for her role in HBO’s comedy Getting On. In this image released by HBO, Audra McDonald appears in a scene from, “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill”. But finally the Academy has stumbled across “The Americans” and its two splendid leads, handing a nomination to the series as well as to Matthew Rhys as best lead actor and Keri Russell as best lead actress (the first-ever nominations for both these veteran stars). They joined fellow cast members Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke, who are repeat nominees – Dinklage previously won the Supporting Actor category in 2015 and 2011. “I owe my performance whatever it is to him”.
