Giroud would be open to Napoli move, says agent

Cape Town – Arsenal first-team coach Neil Banfield has urged the Gunners to sign Jorginho during the summer transfer window, labelling the Napoli player “as the strongest midfielder now in the Serie A”.

Arsenal may have been linked a lot lately with Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain, but according to one of Arsenal’s coachs Neil Banfield, Higuain isn’t the only Napoli player we should be interested in.

The Argentine has been in superb goalscoring form since he joined Napoli and top scored in Serie A last season by netting an astonishing 36 goals in 35 league games.

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is believed to have turned down an £800,000-per-week offer to play for Hebei China Fortune in the Chinese Super League. While some section of Arsenal fans see him as a vital part of their squad others are waiting for the day Arsene Wenger decides to replace Giroud with an even more efficient striker. So far there has not been any communication [with Arsenal] or contact with Napoli.

Higuain meanwhile has hit a stumbling block with Napoli in contract negotiations.

With Danny Welbeck nursing a longterm knee injury, and Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell and Alexis Sanchez unconvincing when played through the middle, Arsenal still need Giroud with or without Higuain’s arrival.

“[Giroud] would lead a wonderful life, not to mention that the type of game orchestrated by Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri could enhance the quality of a centre-forward like him. If they were to ask him to leave, then we’d evaluate the situation”, Mickael Manuello told Radio Crc.

IT SEEMS ARSENAL are facing up to the prospect of failing to land a marquee striker ahead of the season and may start the new campaign with an unproven youngster up front.
