“On representation, my current comments in reaction to push questions were ill advised and that I regret creating s declaration, says Ginsburg them”.

Ginsburg says in a statement issued by the court on Thursday that judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect.’ And that’s exactly how I feel about this whole business.

Ginsburg ignited controversy when she made a series of remarks in recent days to the Associated Press, The Times, and CNN about the Trump candidacy.

“Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me”.

“Washington is more than partisan enough without the spectacle of a Supreme Court justice flinging herself into the mosh pit”, The Times’ editorial board wrote. “I think she felt like it was important for her to clear the air”. The Times said: “Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg needs to drop the political punditry and the name-calling”.

“I can’t imagine what this place would be – I can’t imagine what the country would be – with Donald Trump as our president”, she said.

The mea culpa comes after a week of feuding between the Supreme Court justice and the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Ginsburg was appointed to the high court in 1993 by Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton. She has drawn a cult-like following among young people who have nicknamed her The Notorious R.B.G., a play on American rapper The Notorious B.I.G.

Ginsburg spoke with the New York Times in a story published on Sunday.
