Saban Heated About Unauthorized Biography

And it’s never going to get discussed again.

Alabama is coming off another solid season in which they went 12-2 and lost to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff.

Kelly notes that some teammates haven’t won a bowl game, much less a national championship.

Alabama has plenty of questions to answer before facing Wisconsin on September 5 in Arlington, Texas.

Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake have been competing for the starting job, with T.J. Yeldon gone. That’s partly because coaches are now allowed to have some meeting time with players during the summer, giving the newcomers a little head start in what’s expected. That appears to include tailback Damien Harris and receiver Calvin Ridley, both rated as the best at their position by some recruiting services. Potter states that Scarbrough was limited at Thursday’s practice, while wearing a black, no-contact jersey.

Toward the end of his news conference after Alabama’s first practice on Thursday, Saban said he didn’t approve of someone “you don’t even know trying to profit by your story, or someone else’s story”. Suffice to say, Saban no longer feels as neutral as he once did as there’s something – or some things – in the book that he doesn’t appreciate and is bothered by. “And Terry and I have just worked really hard to extend that through the years and are proud of what we’ve been able to do”.

That philosophy clearly doesn’t include a biography released this month about him written by Forbes writer Monte Burke, “Saban: The Making of a Coach”.

Saban said wide receiver Raheem Falkins suffered a leg fracture while center Josh Casher injured his pectoral muscle during a weightlifting session.

“It also is very special to me because it’s the one way that my father – who probably had the greatest impact of anybody on me – his legacy is sort of remembered because Nick’s Kids is all about my dad, who always said, ‘No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help child, ‘” Saban said.
