Recuse Me, What Did You Say?: RBG and Donald Trump Go Head-to-Head
In subsequent tweets, Trump called Ginsburg “incompetent” and wondered whether she would apologize. Legal-ethics experts said the comments, made in media interviews, might undermine the court’s authority. It was expected that Trump supporters would critic her views, but Justice Ginsburg did all but stay quiet due to the delicate political situation that the US must undergo over the following months.

“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them”, Ginsburg said in a statement.
The leader of the court’s liberal wing sought to quiet complaints that she crossed a line in her remarks about Mr Trump, saying in a statement that judges should not comment on candidates for public office. “In the future I will be more circumspect”.
Scalia’s 2004 duck-hunting trip with then-Vice President Dick Cheney prompted calls for Scalia to step aside from a Supreme Court case.
At first, he seemed to be trying to react to Bader Ginsburg’s comments in a presidential way, calling the judge’s remarks “highly inappropriate”.
Donald Trump will choose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his Vice Presidential running mate, several sources report. He added, “I guess she acknowledged she made a mistake, and I’ll accept that”. “Her mind is shot – resign!” he demonstrated what she was talking about.
Ginsburg has crafted a reputation over the years as one of the court’s fastest writers and hardest workers.
As a lawyer, Ginsburg was a pillar of the fight for women’s rights in the 1960s and ’70s. It doesn’t technically apply to the Supreme Court because, after all, who would enforce it?
“There is no reason to believe now that Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be less capable of impartially analyzing the law and the Constitution in an election case, a presidential election case than any other member of the Supreme Court has ever been, including the ones who ran for president”, he concluded before teasing the next segment. “She deserves our respect for withdrawing her earlier statements”.
Ginsburg responded, “I stand, Nina, by what I said”. Justice Stephen Breyer was questioned about Ginsburg comments, and he said that he would not express an opinion if he had it, referring to the current political scenario.
“What about impartial judges?” Ryan said during his weekly news conference. And the Washington Post, which went easiest on her, still said it was a failure on her part which would cloud her legacy.

But even if Bader Ginsburg wasn’t technically at fault, she and her fellow justices ought to behave with utmost probity, not only to safeguard their judicial impartiality but to reinforce that expectation throughout the legal system.
