The two men accused of accidentally starting the wildfire that has destroyed eight homes in Colorado have been charged with arson. Fire officials warned that returning residents might encounter hazards that include fire-weakened trees, blowing ash and stump holes.

A caravan of Forest Service vehicles were traveling along I-25 near Fort Collins from the Cold Springs fire in Boulder County to the Hayden Pass Fire.

The fire perimeter needs to remain closed Thursday as firefighters continue to knock down the fire and crew airlift new power poles to restore power in the area. It’s believed to have been started by lightning several days before taking off on Wednesday.
More people evacuated by the wildfire near Nederland are being allowed back home. Others were allowed back home on Tuesday.
Fire managers hope to have all homes defended against the fire in the next four days.
Two first responders fighting a wildfire in Boulder County have continued working to save their neighbors’ homes even after their own was destroyed by the blaze.
The fire is 80 percent contained with full containment expected before Thursday night.

A Monday morning statement from the Boulder Office of Emergency Management noted that firefighters battling the wildfire are expecting “erratic, gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour” combined with low relative humidity.
