The deal will keep the 24-year-old global, widely regarded as one of the finest talents in world football, at Barcelona until June 30, 2021, the club said in a statement.

The Brazilian’s release clause has been set at 200m euros (£167m), rising to 222m (£186m) in the second and 250m (£209m) for the final three. Long live Barcelona and long live Catalonia!’
He has been part of two La Liga title-winning sides, lifting the Copa del Rey twice and the Spanish Super Cup and Club World Cup once each.
In 141 games for Barcelona he has scored 85 goals, 15 in his first season, 39 in his second and 31 in his third.
Neymar was recently linked with moves to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar undoubtedly seems to be thrilled with his decision after he went to his Instagram saying “Muito feliz de continuar vivendo esse sonho!”
However, it should well exceed Neymar’s previous contract and put him more in line with fellow Catalan stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
“The contract will be formalised this week”.
Bartomeu said: “Neymar told us that he wanted to continue and we wanted him to stay, so there’s never been any danger”. But after weeks entertaining proposals from Europe’s top teams, the Brazilian striker has made a decision to remain with the Spanish club until 2021.

Neymar’s transfer from Santos has been the subject of legal cases in Spain and Brazil, with the player, as well as his father, accused of tax evasion.
