“Now the USA has accepted that Kashmir is part of India and has said that it is India’s internal matter and should be resolved by India”, Saeed said.

The Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad who was summoned by the Pakistan Foreign Office has rejected the demarche saying the unrest was an internal matter of India. He mentioned that “it is the UN’s responsibility to intervene in the matter and get the issue resolved” adding that “India can not call the present situation of IHK an internal matter”. “We’ve been in discussions with the government of Pakistan as well”, State Department spokesperson Elizabeth Trudeau said. He said that India claimed to be world’s “largest democracy” but its actions in occupied Kashmir contradicted this claim.
Speaking at a high-level debate organised by President of the General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, India’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) Syed Akbaruddin lashed out at Pakistan and accused it of trying to misuse the platform provided by the UN.
“No locus standi and we don’t need any gratis advice from anyone”.
Appreciating the role of Burhan Muzaffar Wani, who was killed in a gunfight with the Indian army on Friday, he said that the 22-year-old martyr has given a new hope to Kashmiri people for fighting for freedom from Indian occupation. “We will never stop this movement until independence will come to Kashmir”, they said.
Trudeau pointed out that Saeed has been listed by the UN Security Council’s 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee and is also on the USA rewards for Justice Program.
“We Pakistani should support our Kashmiri brothers. If you (UN) want to intervene in helping resolution of Kashmir then it is your obligation”, he said.

He stressed upon all the political and religious leadership of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir to unite at this crucial juncture and set aside their political differences for the supreme interest of national cause and express their solidarity with Kashmiri people by taking practical measure to highlight Kashmir issue at all global forums including UN, OIC and humanitarian organizations. “We have fought wars over Kashmir and also have been in talks but there was no result”. Zakaria claimed that India was not qualified to become a permanent member of UNSC as it was constantly violating United Nations resolutions.
