Heyman: Kris Bryant not the traditional Las Vegas-type

Bryant smashed the first pitch he saw – a 96 miles per hour fastball – into the first deck of seat in left field for the first Cubs hit and RBI in an All-Star game since Alfonso Soriano homered in the 9th inning of the 2007 All-Star Game in San Francisco.

But it might not have happened if Dad hadn’t run into Sale two nights earlier.

The American League won its fourth straight All-Star Game, 4-2, before 42,386, which is potentially really good news for teams such as the Rangers and Orioles and Indians and not so much for sides such as the Giants and Cubs and Nationals. “I figure it’s a waste if I don’t bring this bad boy home”, Stanton said, hoisting the trophy.

Russell will take the field on Tuesday next to his double-play partner, Ben Zobrist, along with third baseman Kris Bryant and first baseman Anthony Rizzo. “We didn’t do scouting reports or anything like that”. In 1984 they left Wrigley Field to the sound of Van Halen’s “Jump” and headed west convinced they would play Detroit or Kansas City for the title, holding a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five NL Championship Series.

After striking out in all six of their regular season meetings, Bryant wasted no time against Sale in the Midsummer Classic. He’s given up 16 home runs in 110 innings of work so far this season, and although he’s only given up 37 earned runs, he’ll need to work on keeping the ball in the park through the rest of the summer. He just keeps getting better. “He already is, but the consistency is what you have to see over time to become a legend like Big Papi [David Ortiz]”.

The Chicago Cubs got off to a red-hot start in 2016, completely dominating their opponents with unhittable pitching and incredible power up and down the lineup. The sky truly seems to be the limit for him. Usually when I do good in a game, I don’t really notice it. I am lost in my own little world.

It has been one accolade after another for Bryant, starting with his time as a college star in San Diego, but don’t think that it came easy. But he’s an unbelievable athlete. “It made for some entertainment”. What superstar is used as a super-utility player? You throw him a first-pitch fastball inside.

Not only does Bryant not ever had a drink but he says he’s never placed a bet in a casino, either, remarkable when you consider where Bryant comes from.
