An unidentified Boston woman was killed at a busy intersection Friday morning. The driver of the truck, an 18-wheel flatbed, may not have realized he hit the woman.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on the corner of Mass. Ave and Beacon Street. “We are checking everything we can”.

Police say the truck was an 18-wheeler with a front chrome section that is missing. They said they are not sure if the driver was aware that someone had been hit.

An employee at a nearby convenience store called 911 after finding the woman lying unresponsive in the road.

She was struck by a tractor-trailer unit pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with steel, said Boston Police Superintendent Bernard O’Rourke.

Zach Cloyd, 31, who lives next door to the scene, said he stopped biking home from work because this particular intersection is risky. Then-Mayor Thomas Menino commissioned a study in 2013 that found the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Beacon Street had the most bicycle collisions in the city between 2010 and 2012.
