Starbucks customers change names to “Black Lives Matter”

In July 2016, some Starbucks customers gave their names to baristas as “Black Lives Matter” in an effort to help spread awareness of the movement.
Is that such a hard thing for any of us to say?
“We need them to vote”.

About 20 protesters took to the sidewalk in front of Giuliani’s Park Ave. office during the afternoon rush, chanting “Giuliani shut your blabber, Black Lives Matter!”.
“We want people to know that he’s a liar”.
Black Lives Matter is made up of a network of local chapters who operate mostly independently.
“There’s no justice for the black man”, he said.
Asked what changes he would suggest, he said, “I don’t know”.
“I’m left here to pick up the pieces”, Clemmons said. She attended with her daughters, Maya, 5, and Rosa, 3.
Aleta Toure’, who is Florida regional cohort for the New Jim Crow Movement/Black Lives Matter, spoke and led the crowd in reciting a quote from activist Assata Shakur.
“It is our duty to fight for our freedom”, she said. “We have nothing to lose but our chains”.
“We are not asking for this to be one-sided”, Goodman-Banks said.
He said he recognizes that everybody’s life matters. Group leaders maintain the protest was peaceful but say there was use of police force that resulted in some serious injuries.
KDPS Chief Hadley said, “We’re going to work through out issues”.
We all need to start buying less of it. If no one tells us, if no one pushes us, if no one makes us accountable, it’s easy to kind of fall back into ho-hum everyday stuff… all the normal stuff.
Because there are actual bad folks out there that we need protection from. It will allow the community members to voice their concerns and find common ground.

Protesters said the former mayor’s “racist” comments display the same adverse relationship with the black community that informed his Broken Windows policing policy, which they said targets men and women of color.
