The NES is Returning This Coming November, In Mini Form

Sadly, it won’t connect to the internet and it looks like you won’t be able to add anymore games to the mini console. It’s likely Nintendo will wait to see sales of the mini NES before committing. While fans of the classic console were excited about the news, some still had questions. That’s true, Nintendo just unveiled this brand new Nintendo Classic Mini NES that will hit stores on November 11th, at a suggested retail price of $59.99. Most of the NES’s biggest titles are present and accounted for, though, including Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3, the first two Zelda games, Donkey Kong, Castlevania and Final Fantasy.

Shortly after Pokémon GO took the world by storm, the iconic Japanese games company announced it would be releasing a throwback console in the form of the Nintendo Classic Mini. Nintendo sold almost 62 million NES units and 500 million software units for the console.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place”, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement. A full list has been published on Nintendo’s website.

The classic edition is a “mini replica” of the original 1985 NES, which now comes with few modern features and conveniences like an HDMI cable, adapter and a controller that imitates the original NE.
