Germany states British access to EU single market ‘reasonable’ Brexit condition

“We don’t have trade negotiators because the trade negotiation has been going on in the European Union so we are going to have to hire a whole – David Davis is going to have to hire – group to deal with the European Union negotiations and (International Trade Secretary) Liam Fox, of course, in what I think is an excellent plan of Theresa’s to create a new Department of International Trade”.

May must try to limit the damage to British trade and investment as she renegotiates the country’s ties with its 27 European Union partners.

David Davis, the newly appointed minister in charge of negotiating Britain’s exit from the European Union, appears unaware of how EU trade deals work, it has emerged.

May, who backed Britain remaining in the European Union, has said she is committed to giving effect to the will of the majority that voted to end the 43-year relationship.

Speaking on Wednesday night, Mr Johnson said he was “very humbled” and “very proud” at the appointment.

She said her party believed in the “precious, precious bond” between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Haltemprice and Howden MP has been given the job of overseeing the Brexit process by new Prime Minister Theresa May.

The announcements come less than two hours after May succeeded Cameron with a promise to create “a country that works for everyone”.

Acknowledging the struggles faced by many, May declared: “The government I lead will be driven not by the interests of the privileged few, but by yours”.

In her first address on the steps of her new Downing Street residence Wednesday May vowed to tackle “burning injustice”.

May was born to a vicar, Reverend Hubert Brasier and his wife Zaidee, which instilled in her a sense of servanthood and desire to help others.

“The prime minister explained that we would need some time to prepare for these negotiations and spoke of her hope that these could be conducted in a constructive and positive spirit”, the spokeswoman said.

In his final question-and-answer session in the House of Commons, Cameron echoed a line he used to launch himself in 2005, taunting Labour’s then-prime minister Tony Blair. He gambled, and he lost.

“We have a massive opportunity in this country to make a great success of our new relationship with Europe and with the world”, he said.

The White House is pushing back on suggestions that her selection of Boris Johnson as foreign minister will be problematic for the U.S. Johnson had previously described Obama as a “part-Kenyan” who had an “ancestral dislike of the British empire”.

The White House says he told May on Thursday that the US was committed to deepening the USA relationship with the U.K. Obama told her he looks forward to working with her during his final six months in office.

May’s surprise appointment of Johnson has left few in doubt that her new mantra is: “Brexit means Brexit”.

Women are expected to secure several top jobs in May’s cabinet, including current energy minister Amber Rudd and worldwide development minister Justine Greening. Leading eurosceptics such as former London mayor Boris Johnson and David Davis secured top worldwide jobs, as many members of predecessor David Cameron’s administration were swept away.

Investors will be watching her first days in office closely but with greater optimism as the value of the pound, which fell by up to 15 percent against the dollar after the Brexit vote, rallied in recent days. At its first meeting since the referendum, the Bank of England’s monetary policy committee made a decision to keep interest rates unchanged at 0.50 percent, although it signalled a possible cut in August.
