The Metro states that fresh contact was made be United earlier this week and that talks are progressing well, with Louis van Gaal said to be “in love” with the idea of him replacing his soon to be departing compatriot, Angel Di Maria. “He is a great friend, a great player“.
Reports in France claim PSG will pay United 65million euros (£46million) for the 27-year-old, who failed to settle in Manchester following his British record transfer from Real Madrid a year ago.
Les Parisiens were linked to Di Maria last summer, but United beat them to the player who now, only a year on, is set to move to Laurent Blanc’s side.
The former Real Madrid winger was left unsettled after an attempted burglary on his Cheshire home in February.
Van Gaal is hopeful United will retain the services of De Gea this season but acknowledged the rumors swirling around the star goalkeeper were not helpful to either the play or the club.
“I like that and I ask for that, especially from Memphis”.
Jones was chosen to partner Blind in central defence as United lost 2-0 to PSG in the final game of their US tour on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old striker tweeted his 11.6million followers after United’s pre-season tour of the US came to an end.
“Sometimes you don’t have luck, and you don’t adapt”. When I went to England I didn’t speak English. But Di Maria is just excellent. The Brazilian is sure the midfielder would enjoy life at the Parisian club, though.
“I don’t know what happened with him (Di Maria), but he is still one of the best players in the world”. “He is like every single professional”.
