Weekly Standard: Will Trump’s Persona Drive Pence Crazy?

The Donald Trump campaign announced on Friday evening that they will hold a “welcome home rally” for Indiana Governor Mike Pence on Saturday afternoon in Zionsville.

Joined by Pence, Trump will presumably square off with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her running mate in November, however, Trump did not earn overwhelming support in South Dakota’s June primary. Podesta added that Pence is an “incredibly divisive and unpopular running mate known for supporting discriminatory politics and failed economic policies that favor millionaires and corporations over working families”. Not only has Governor Pence been a terrific governor in IN but he has also been a critical leader and important voice regarding Israel during his time in the House and as governor …

The Republican Jewish Coalition welcomes the announcement of Governor Pence and congratulates him as the Republican Party Vice Presidential nominee.

“Governor Mike Pence is a strong addition to the ticket”.

As Mr Pence arrived for a private meeting with Mr Trump on Friday, he told reporters he “couldn’t be more happy for the opportunity to run with and serve with the next president of the United States”.

Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, strongly rejected suggestions that the candidate considered changing his mind about Pence.

“Never waffled once he made his decision”, Manafort wrote in an email.

Seen as disciplined and relatively discreet, Pence was apparently the favorite of Trump’s children, who exercise much influence over the political novice as he campaigns for president.

Meanwhile, Trump did speak with Christie, according to a person familiar with their conversation.

Instead, Pence insisted that “we got to do something different”. But, like Noem – and also Pence, who endorsed Texas Sen.
