The film will close the festival on October 18 with Fassbender, co-star Kate Winslet and director Danny Boyle attending the gala screening.

The film is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs and has been adapted for the screen by The Newsroom and The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin. Seth Rogen plays Steve Wozniak, who founded Apple with Jobs.
It is Boyle’s third film to close the festival, following Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and 127 Hours in 2010.
Steve Jobs is heading to theaters on October 9, though it’s set to debut a week earlier at the New York Film Festival.
He’s opened the 30th Olympics and now Danny Boyle is closing The 59th BFI London Film Festival.
The full programme for the Festival will be announced on Tuesday 1st September 2015.
“If London was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution then San Francisco is that of the digital one”, Boyle added. The director himself said he’d had a brilliant time shooting the film in Silicon Valley and “It’s always special to bring work home”.
Michael Fassbender stars as the eponymous “hero” of the film, as the Apple founder is shown battling the company’s board in the 90s, dealing with his estranged daughter and at the launch of the iMac.

The producers are Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady, Scott Rudin, Boyle, and Christian Colson. The film also stars Katherine Waterston as Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld, one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team. We’re approaching the beginning of what is typically considered awards season and “Steve Jobs” is certainly getting a jumpstart on its marketing.
