SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – Angry residents in a rural South Korean town threw eggs and water bottles at the prime minister Friday to protest a plan to deploy an advanced USA missile defense system in their neighborhood.

With the selection of the site, the allies will start the legal process to officially turn over the existing base in Seongju to U.S. Forces Korea for the THAAD deployment, Yoo said.
South Korean officials have dismissed as groundless a belief that Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense radar systems emit electromagnetic waves that can cause health problems.
Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, accompanied by the defense minister and others, tried to explain the decision to residents but was immediately disrupted by jeers.
So, unless or until Google and the South Korean government come to an agreement over the availability of vector map data – and this has been a disagreement for several years now – Sochko is the only spot for South Korean players to play the game, unless or until laws change, or possibly even if the South Korean government cracks down on the Sochko mapping data.
Supporters of the system, on the other hand, said that it will help protect lives and assets in the face of North Korea’s evolving nuclear and missile threats.
China is South Korea’s largest trading partner and a linchpin along with the U.S.in Seoul’s push to enforce toughened sanctions on North Korea.
While she added that the significance of THAAD deployment in Korea would be more geopolitical than military, Chiu said that China was understandably concerned “about having a United States made, U.S. run missile system in its backyard”.
Earlier in the week, Seongju, located 296 kilometers south of Seoul, was selected as the site for the country’s first THAAD battery, which can shoot down incoming ballistic missiles from the North during the terminal phase of flight.
At a trilateral meeting held in Honolulu the three officials also agreed to peacefully resolve the controversy over China’s claims in the South China Sea, South Korean news service News 1 reported.
North Korea insists its nuclear weapons program is for self-defense against a feared invasion. The peninsula is divided by the world’s most militarized border since the 1950-53 war ended in an armistice instead of a peace treaty.

It was a constructive and meaningful meeting, according to South Korea’s number two diplomat Lim Sung-nam, as he met with his USA and Japanese counterparts Antony Blinken and Shinsuke Sugiyama for trilateral talks in Honululu, Hawaii on Thursday local time.
