Argentina stay top of Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings

The new Federation Internationale de Football Association World rankings are out today and one of the biggest surprises is that current reigning World Cup holders Germany have been overtaken by Marc Wilmots’ Belgium side, as per the official website.

The Netherlands fell seven places to No. 12, also because its third-place finish in Brazil counts for less in FIFA’s calculations over a four-year cycle.

Portugal, Romania, England are next in the rankings, while Wales achieved its highest rankings ever, coming in at No. 9.

Argentina remain the number one ranked team in the world despite losing to Chile in the Copa America final.

Costa Rica is third in CONCACAF, rising three spots to No. 38, while Jamaica rises 21 spots to No. 55.

The United States, which lost in the Gold Cup semifinals to Jamaica, is up five places to No. 29.

England, Wales and Copa America victor Chile complete the top-10, followed by Spain and the Netherlands.
