Noah Syndergaard Injury: Updates on Mets Star’s Arm and Return

Syndergaard and Cespedes are going to go to Tuesday’s game, but not play. First came the news that Matt Harvey would be out for the season after electing to have surgery for his newly discovered Thoracic Outlet Syndrome-the same condition that sent Phil Hughes of the Minnesota Twins to the operating table.

First, Yoenis Cespedes left after the game’s third inning with an apparent strained right quad.

The Nationals grabbed the lead in the second inning, when Clint Robinson blasted a two run homer (5) off Syndergaard (L, 9-4).

Syndergaard has been pitching with a small bone spur in his right elbow – something Mets GM Sandy Alderson estimated 90 percent of pitchers are dealing with. “Hopefully he’ll be fine”, Collins said, adding that when the season resumes Friday in Philadelphia, “I’m sure that first day he will go out and throw on the side to see how he feels”.

The team later said that Syndergaard was suffering from arm fatigue and noted that the issue is not related to his elbow.

At the same time, you think Mets fans would’ve learned from their Giancarlo Stanton incident the other day…

The Mets also saw Yoenis Cespedes come out of Friday’s game with an injury.

“Some guys can go through a dead-arm thing, but they would pretty much start the game at 92, 93 and not 98”, Collins said. Stephen Strasburg struck out nine and allowed just two hits in seven innings.

“It’s hard to walk into this room, because the conversation is about who got hurt tonight”, Mets manager Terry Collins said.

Wilmer Flores hit a go-ahead, three-run homer and the surging New York Mets rallied past Washington 9-7 on Thursday night in the back-and-forth opener of a pivotal four-game series between the top teams in the NL East. Former Gold Glove victor Juan Lagares replaced Cespedes in center field.

MLB.com’s David Adler noted Syndergaard’s last fastball clocked in at 91 miles per hour. In the fifth, Syndergaard was taken out of the game and replaced by Seth Lugo.

Jake Arrieta, who faced Pirates left-hander Francisco Liriano, left the game after allowing three straight hits to start the seventh inning, punctuated by a John Jaso single that scored Adam Frazier from third base to tie the game.

Daniel Murphy (20) and Anthony Rendon (6) celebrate a win over the New York Mets in a baseball game, Friday, July 8, 2016, in New York. Going into the game, the Mets were three games back in the standings, with a chance to gain some ground on the NL East Division-leading Nats. “It’s a long season, you put a lot of wear and tear on your body, just right now I think I need a little break”. That’s because the New York Mets right-hander will be rooming with fellow All-Star Wil Myers, who listed his San Diego condo on Airbnb for a special All-Star promotion.
