UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon says Iran’s ballistic missile tests in March are “not consistent” with the nuclear agreement signed in Vienna in July 2015.
In March 2016, Senator Kirk introduced the Iran Terrorism and Human Rights Sanctions Act of 2016 (S. 2726) in response to Iran’s terrorism, missile threats and human rights abuses.
“My perception is that the other side will try to keep the JCPOA intact, because it well knows that the violation of the nuclear accord will harm them before harming us”, Salehi said.
“It covers all of 2015 and makes no distinction about whether the reported activities occurred prior to the JCPOA coming into effect”, he said. “We understand that Germany shares this view”.
He said Iran’s missile programme has nothing to do with the country’s nuclear deal with major powers and does not violate any United Nations resolution.
Reacting on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi rejected the allegations, calling them “unconstructive”.
The news comes weeks after Boeing and Iran Air confirmed a tentative deal for the sale of passenger planes, described as a landmark for normalising the hard US-Iran relationship.
But, the report does not explicitly state the word “violation” AFP reports.
“The Obama administration is acting outside the requirements of the nuclear deal – sending millions of dollars to the Iranian regime”.
Outside of Congress, Iran engagement advocates are also fretting about the move.
Iran meanwhile responded that it would continue its ballistic missile program.
A separate report from the intelligence agency in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia this week said it had registered 141 attempts to acquire technology for proliferation purposes past year and that two-thirds of these attempts were linked to Iran. That is one problem they have, the problem with the Iranian government.
“The latest German intelligence report on Iran’s efforts to secure nuclear and missile technology and material is extremely troubling”, Pompeo said.
Amendment #45 prohibits the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) from using funds to authorize a license necessary to allow aircraft to be sold to Iran.
Boeing said it had reached a preliminary agreement with the state-owned carrier.

Iran used front companies in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and China, and to a lesser extent Turkmenistan and Iraq, to try to obtain the goods, it said. Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY), who led the opposition on the House floor, argued the amendments would complicate and undermine the Iran agreement. Iran’s ballistic missile program was not covered by the agreement. The report added, “This was particularly the case for merchandise that could be deployed in the field of nuclear technology”.
