The Republican National Convention is scheduled July 18-21 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. That move will depend on whether anti-Trump delegates have 28 votes. Politico reports that goodwill from the other early primary states – Iowa, New Hampshire and SC – has run out. That alone could completely undercut a party that’s already divided amongst itself and struggling to hold on to some semblance of unity.

Although the threat of Virginia criminal prosecutions are now blocked, an RNC rule may still record all Virginia delegates as voting for Trump.
Rachel Hoff, who declared herself the committee’s first openly gay member, offered the marriage resolution, which called for removing all the language in support of heterosexual marriage and replacing it with “respect for all families”. Even though he has far more than the needed 1,237 delegates bound to him for the main event – the vote for the nomination – by his campaign’s own count, he has only about 900 delegates fully loyal to him. Approval requires support from half of the 2,472 delegates.

There are efforts from within Trump’s campaign and elsewhere that do not want the rules to change.
