“El Al’s board today authorised the company to hold talks with Boeing over the acquisition of wide-body Dreamliner aircraft for the purchase and lease of 15 planes in the next five years”. The planes will replace a fleet of seven 747-400s and six 767-300ERs, which serve the North American and Asian destinations of El Al.
The first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner of a 19-aircraft deal joined Vietnam Airlines’ fleet on August 2. “This measure will be a major leap forward in the optimization of our flight routes, serving passengers and the flight experience”. The aircraft are considered cost efficient as regards fuel consumption and maintenance. “We shall preserve our position as the first choice in flying to and from Israel and offer customers maximum comfort, technological innovations and quality service”.
David Maimon further added: “I congratulate the signing of the labor agreement with the Employee Representation, which will enable El Al to become more efficient and focus on the business challenges facing us, further to its growth within the global aviation industry”.
