This is why Pokemon Go hasn’t officially launched in South Africa
Because while we, lucky Android geeks, have been able to manually grab the APK and install it on our phones regardless of where Niantic has officially released the game, many regular Android users didn’t know how to do it and nearly all iPhone users simply couldn’t.

Regardless of platform, newly-launched online games rarely sustain their initial user numbers as the novelty wears off. “Hillary Clinton” reads the campaign’s official website.
In the past few days, Niantic has resumed its global launch of Pokémon Go, first in Germany, and then in the United Kingdom, suggesting that it is now “comfortable” with it server capacity again.
The Clinton campaign announced it will hold an official event on Saturday to register voters at the Madison Park Pokestop & PokeGYM in Lakewood, Ohio.
As of roughly 9.30 a.m. this morning – after a long, frustrating wait – the Pokémon Go app has been made available in the UK.
Pokemon Go has already overtaken Twitter in terms of daily users and has seen people spending more time on its app than on Facebook. The video game uses smartphone cameras to make seem as if players are catching the pixelated monsters in actual locations.

“By July 7, the app had been installed on more Android smartphones than the dating app”, Britain-based information technology firm SimilarWeb was quoted as saying.
