5 things to watch out for when you play Pokemon Go
However, the game doesn’t use augmented reality, which is much of Pokemon GO’s appeal.

The Nintendo video game, which uses a phone’s Global Positioning System and camera, has users physically scavenging their community to virtually catch animated creatures hiding on their screens.
Stores and located-brands can buy a Pokemon Go feature called Lures for as little as $1.19 an hour to drive foot traffic. In 2013, Niantic Labs – the San Francisco company that developed “Pokemon Go” – released the augmented game “Ingress” to limited mainstream success.
It is Pokemon Go’s presence in the real world that sets it apart. A Missouri police department reported robbers using a secluded “PokeStop” location to rob unsuspecting game players.
Following the United Kingdom launch of the game, an NSPCC spokesperson told us: “It’s deeply troubling that the app’s owners have ignored many warning signals and well documented child safety concerns”.
Less than a week after its US launch, players on average are spending more time in “Pokemon Go” – which uses gamers’ real-world locations to make cartoonish creatures appear on their phone screens – than Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook Messenger, according to Internet analytics company SimilarWeb.
Analysts have long criticised the company for lagging behind its rivals like Sony and being late into the game in catering for the smartphone. It’s there that players can gather supplies, train their creatures and battle other characters in the game.
Although its popularity has waned in recent years, it has made a comeback and 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the original games. Reports indicate the game has been delayed due to overwhelming demand for the game. Nevertheless, this is a feat that most app creators will regard jealously. “Playing games while driving is a distraction just like sending or reading a text while driving”.
Clearly, most users have responded positively to Pokemon Go.
It’s one thing for a game to be popular, but Pokemon GO is a bona fide cultural phenomenon.
The charity said yesterday (13 July) that the game had “overlooked” basic safety standards to prevent children coming to harm.

Contrary to the stereotype of a solitary game player glued to a display in a room, Iwata believed everyone is a child-at-heart, eager to go outside and play, interacting with the world and other people.
