‘Ghostbusters’ belongs to stellar female cast

I also enjoyed seeing the cameo appearances from original cast members, although they certainly could have been given funnier things to do.
Lame, leaden and witless, the Ghostbusters reboot fails not because it is years too late but because the comedic camaraderie that made the original so successful is so singularly lacking. Jones, who plays a subway worker, might have been expected to be the broadest performer of the bunch, given the knockout punch of her “SNL” appearances, but her character is impressively grounded. And especially when you hear somebody’s going to do a reboot of a classic movie, it is a very natural instinct to be nervous about that.
McCarthy: The reason why I, and I think everybody, loves “Ghostbusters” is that it’s (about) four unlikely heroes that save the world and it’s with these ghosts and science geeks and they’re not the typical heroes, and I just love that story.
But the movie belongs to its stellar female cast.
Even the special effects, the old Cadillac used as the crew’s transportation and the proton blasters with which they battle the evil spirits trying to take control of New York City, are the same as those used in 1984.
Now, there are a few flaws within this film, namely portions of the second act that just disrupt the fluidity that the first act worked so hard to create. He comes in and you are like, “That is just pretty to look at”.
Feig’s Ghostbusters concerns itself with far more pressing matters than landing romantic partners, leaving Holtzmann’s sexual identity with far more freedom of interpretation from fans. Kristen Wiig is Erin Gilbert, a ghost enthusiast turned physics professor. We also were able to talk with director Paul Feig, producer Ivan Reitman, and writer Kate Dippold.

Leslie Jones had to do her own stage dive too, and was nervous about it until Paul Feig did it himself. He shrugged, and then continued: “You know, Kate is who she is and I love the relationship between Kate and Melissa’s characters”, he says. As Jillian, McKinnon brings her oddly hilarious sensibilities from SNL, at times making amusing faces, saying odd things, and randomly lip-syncing to DeBarge’s “Rhythm of the Night”.
