Home Run Derby: Giancarlo Stanton Breaking Records

New construction with minor reductions in the distance of the outfield fences in 2013 have made the stingy park into a some what of hitter’s park – Giancarlo made it a haven last night. There’s nothing but four minutes on the clock, a bat in the hands and a basket of souvenirs-to-be. Stanton averaged 461 feet with those 17 homers.

Before the contest the team sent out an email to fans promising a one-percent decrease in ticket price for each homer Stanton hit. Stanton added 11 more 440+ foot home runs.

The derby gives the chance for the strongest swings of the league to compete hitting home runs. He will now take on Orioles’ outfielder and the top overall seed in this year’s Home Run Derby, Mark Trumbo.

That set up for an intriguing final between Stanton and last year’s champion Todd Frazier.

His 61 home runs came on 120 swings.

“That is where I got my childhood memories, watching the Home Run Derby as a kid”, said Stanton, who grew up in California.

But that created a problem for the Marlins’ marketing team. An American League player had won the derby each of the previous five seasons.

He also joked around that a couple of his final-round homers were stolen by fans reaching over the wall.

Have no fear: Just because your favorite player was in the Home Run Derby doesn’t mean that he’s going to have trouble hitting home runs in the second half.

Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera will be Detroit’s lone representative in tonight’s All-Star Game at Petco Park in San Diego.

He did enough damage already but he was not ready to stop yet.

Stanton, who is not on the NL roster for Tuesday night after a disappointing season batting. 233 and has been as low as.

Stanton put on a serious display of power in the first round to rout former Home Run Derby champion Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners, 24-7.

“I think the advantage is going second”.

But Stanton looked as though he invented the home run.

Frazier tried to match Stanton’s energy in the finals, but fatigue was just too much. He hit them with efficiency. With a $325 million over 13 years, he has the biggest contract in baseball, so there are some things to comfort him while he waits for an All-Star invite next year.
