Brandon Ingram scored 12 points and shown flashes of greatness in his summer league debut. I tried to imagine being a senior on that team and being told I would not be able to play even in the NIT tournament because some hot shot freshman did not want to play.
Each team in the Las Vegas Summer League concluded its three preliminary round games by Tuesday night and the 24-team bracket is now set (bracket below). He has made noticeable strides defensively, but doesn’t defend well enough to where you can see him playing much.
Otherwise, Simmons, the first overall pick in the 2016 draft, seemed rather indifferent about any alias or comparison you could throw at him, even those that place him in rarefied air. He has played each of the past four years with ASVEL, the French League team owned by Spurs point guard Tony Parker. You never know where it could be, hopefully it will be with an National Basketball Association team, and I believe I can be with an National Basketball Association team and provide something for them.
The games have relatively zero meaning, and they have little indication of how the upcoming season will play out, but the kids who play, and the fans who watch, take it seriously.
PHOENIX 82, DENVER 81: Jamal Murray hit a layup with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to apparently give Denver the win, but Tyler Ulis hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Phoenix the victory. Cauley-Stein, an All-Rookie Second Team selection past year, is averaging 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Richaun Holmes finished with 11 points (4/7 FG, 3/6 FT), eight rebounds, and three blocks in 26 minutes, and T.J. McConnell 11 points (3/11 FG, 0/3 3P, 5/5 FT), six rebounds, and four assists in a team-high 31 minutes.
