Fresno Police Release Body Cam Footage Of Officers Fatally Shooting Unarmed Teen
Nineteen-year-old Noble was shot and killed on 25 June during a traffic stop by two unidentified police officers who thought he was armed, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told a news conference.

As Noble advances, one police officer fires at him twice, dropping him to the ground. After shooting at him twice, the officers continued to yell at Noble to stop moving his arms.
Officers also saw Noble reach into his glove box and grasp something, Dyer said.
“They just wanted to shoot him”, Darren Noble, Dylan’s father, said after reviewing the video Friday, according to the Guardian.
Noble did not comply with officers’ orders and reached his right hand behind his back and appeared to carry an object in his right hand that officers believed could be a weapon, Dyer said. The video begins with the patrol auto stopping behind Noble’s black truck at a red light. “Were they based on a reasonable fear, meaning was person capable of carrying out a threat to the officers and were those rounds absolutely necessary (50) or were there other options alternatives and those alternatives will be looked at”, Dyer said.
Chief Dyer reveals that internal affairs has taken over an investigation into the third and fourth shots. We asked Chief Dyer if the officers had ever been involved in shootings before.
Officers continue to shout commands at Noble, who moves both away from and towards the officers at various moments. Each officer then fires an additional shot.
“I do not have the answer for that today”, Dyer told reporters in the central California city of 520,000 people.
19-year-old Dylan Noble was pulled over by officers on June 25th. Now that the footage has been released, the parents of Noble are speaking out.
The death of Noble, who was white, came more than a week before police killed two black men in shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota last week that sparked protests around the country.
The driver, Dylan Noble, eventually stopped. Finally, Noble puts a hand behind his back and is fatally shot four times. This prompted one officer to shoot him with a handgun and another officer to shoot him with a shotgun.
The video’s release came as President Barack Obama said the U.S. is “not even close” to where it needs to be in bridging the divide between police and the communities they serve.
The video’s release comes just a week after cell phone video of the officer-involved shooting was released by a law firm representing Noble’s family.
You can view the full video here, via The Washington Post, with the warning that it contains disturbing content.
This footage was released in the wake of two high-profile killings of black men by cops, and the July 7 killing of five Dallas police officers at a Black Lives Matter rally.

Noble’s mother has filed a legal claim against the city, saying the shooting was unjustified, and that she suffered “significant emotional and mental distress as a result of the senseless and brutal death of her son”.
